Results don’t always illustrate the true strengths of the teams. In this tournament we had three games being decided by Penalty shoot out, including the first game of the eventual winner Building Capital, they survived the first round but sent a strong message in the second with a 8-0 victory to get them to the finals. Madina Fine Foods on the other hand had to scrape though their second round game with penalty shoots. It was clear that Building Capital had the momentum going into the Finals and the results showed just that with the 3-0 victory over Madina. This division league winner could be anyone guess with no true favorite team leading the way, coaches will have to find innovative ways to win with strategies and good use of their players. Buckle up for a “nail biter” season.

The Muslim Welfare Center Knockout Tournament was a great introduction to what promises to be a very tough fight for the teams in this division. Famous Optical started strong with winning their first game easily by striking 5 early goals in the first half and then topping their group to get to the finals, Mr. Lawnmower on the other hand struggled with their group having to dig deep to bring victories in their games. This set the stage for a Final that will require endurance and strategy in scorching midday sun. Mr. Lawnmower scored midway in the first half and was able to hold off Famous Optical from scoring by some solid defense and great goal-keeping. Late in the second half Mr. Lawnmower sealed the game by scoring a second with a superb counter attack. The game ending 2-0 for Mr. Lawnmower the 2018 MWC Tournament Champs.
