ISL 2020 Season Cancelled

We regret to inform you that the ISL 2020 summer house league Season.

Cancellation Memo

July 3rd, 2020

Our Mission is to teach, nurture and foster the skills of soccer while building islamic character through sports.

On behalf of the Islamic Soccer League (ISL) Board, it is my heart-breaking responsibility to inform you that we have made the decision to cancel the 2020 soccer season.

For the past few months, the board members have been considering options on how we can begin our season. We discussed various options, keeping in mind the following; lifting of the restrictions, physical distancing protocols, and safety of our players, coaches, volunteers, and parents. The board members have exhausted all possible options before making this decision with the health and safety being of paramount importance. We were very determined to continue our season in some form this year, but this pandemic has piloted the final decision.
Soccer has been the heartbeat of our community and our players have always looked forward to being engaged during the summer months in playing this competitive sport. The players felt their sense of belonging, worked on their leadership and soccer skills, and developed their Islamic character. This will be a different summer for us all and we will definitely miss seeing you all. ISL board members will continue to meet and venture how we can resume serving our community in different ways. We have setup a team of vibrant young members to develop a virtual program for the players. More details to follow soon.
This March, ISL was scheduled to perform Umrah and play two clubs in Medina and Istanbul. The players were dedicated, determined, and constantly exhausted all their efforts in preparing for this trip and competition. Due to cases rising rapidly in late February around the globe; we were informed that Saudi authorities suspended entry into Makkah to perform Umrah and visit Prophet’s mosque in Medina. This was very difficult and disheartening to all travelling, but we need to believe that everything happens in accordance to Allah’s will, He knows best. This lead to 2020 Umrah Trip to be cancelled; with the continued pandemic issues we have also eliminated the option of going in March 2021 and Insha’Allah we have plans to resume with our Umrah program in 2022.
We would like to express our heart-felt gratitude for the continuous support bestowed on us by our sponsors, coaches, volunteers, parents, and players. Each of these positions plays a critical role in shaping the Islamic Soccer League. Thank you for your contributions, efforts, commitment, and the affection that you have exhibited. The League wants you to know how grateful we are for your support and we look forward to a prosperous future together.
The health and safety of our players, coaches, parents, and volunteers is our paramount concern, and we hope to see you all soon Insha’Allah as we resume with our programs in the near future. In meantime, cherish the moments with your families, make the most of the summer, and stay safe. Please keep us all in your Duas.

JazakAllah
